Experience: I've been a contributor on 9 different projects and zines. I've completed 3 as a mod, including SOF and Forbidden Flame and am currently modding 4 others, including Dec! My roles include Writing/Beta Mod, Finance and Head.

Composition
Understanding of line, shape, color, and proportional relationships.

Anatomy
Understanding of anatomy including accurate usage and/or stylization of anatomy and objects.

Background
Understanding of perspective, and ability to create a complex background.
Complex backgrounds may include but are not limited to any of the following elements:
Furniture, everyday objects (props), everyday indoor or outdoor scenes or other environmental depictions.

Color
Understanding of lighting and color. A fully lined (or the applicable in your style), colored, and/or painted illustration depicting characters and background.

Pitches
At least two pitches (three max) detailing what prompt you would like to illustrate for this zine. These should be centered around different characters or pairings.

Expectations
💎 If accepted into the zine, you will be expected to create a minimum of one fully colored illustration.
💎 Merch Artists will be expected to create up to two items.

💎Writers must provide three samples for submission. Samples should be a minimum of 2k words each, with a maximum of 3k. Excerpts from longer works are allowed, but you should have at least one standalone story.
💎Criteria for Written Samples are listed as follows:
At least one sample must be NSFW.At least one sample must be BNHA related.💎Providing a portfolio link is optional, but not required. However, this would help us evaluate you and your work more efficiently.

Grammar & Spelling
Your sample should be mostly free of errors. However, if your grammar is not absolutely perfect, that is okay. Should you be accepted into the zine, the Writing/Beta Mod will be there to help you make final corrections. Grammatical inconsistencies are also allowed if it is clear they are used as a stylistic choice.

Characterization
Characters should possess their key defining personality traits. Beyond that, we will be looking for characterizations that we think might complement or add an interesting spin on the sugar baby/sugar parent dynamic.

Style
This can include imagery, symbolism, wordplay, and any other compositional elements you feel define your writing. Style will not be evaluated on a basis of “good” or “bad,” but instead what we feel would best fit the overall mood of the project.

Pacing & Plot
Does the pacing fit the plot? Does the progression keep the reader consistently engaged? These are questions we will explore while reading your submission.

Expectations
💎 If accepted into the zine, you will be expected to write a piece that is 2k words. This is to accommodate the size of the book, printing costs, and other factors.

Is this zine SFW or NSFW?
Decadence is a NSFW zine, thus all interested including aspiring contributors and consumers must be 18 years old or older.

Is this zine for-profit or for charity?
Decadence is a for-profit zine.

How will contributors be compensated?
At the minimum contributors can expect to receive a free digital copy of the zine. Assuming the zine breaks even, contributors will also receive a free Full Bundle. Should sales go exceedingly well, additional compensation may also be available.

How many contributors will be accepted?
We hope to accept 10-12 Writers and 20-25 Artists (this includes 3-5 Merch Artists). Please note these ranges are subject to change based on project needs.

Will all applications be judged fairly?
Yes, mods will be judging apps based off set guidelines. Formal guidelines will be available closer to our Contributor Apps.

What will contributors be evaluated on?
Artists will be evaluated on Composition, Anatomy, Background, Color and Pitch. While Writers can expect to be evaluated on Spelling & Grammar, Characterization, Style, Pacing & Plot and Pitch. Formal guidelines will be provided closer to Contributor Apps.

What is a pitch?
A pitch is an idea proposal or prompt you are interested in illustrating or writing. These typically include characters, setting, theme and plot (for writers). Additionally, if NSFW this may even include kinks or fetishes. Please note that two of these are required on contributor applications pitch and will be taken into consideration as part of judging criteria.

Artist Example: Dabi and Hawks spend a weekend at an upscale swingers club. The place is packed with people, toys, and various objects. Hawks is dressed in a latex outfit that Dabi picked out just for him, custom collar included. Hawks is covered in wax, burns, bruises, and various liquids left behind from Dabi (and company). Dabi is wearing a similar leather outfit (close to his recent canon outfit). His hands are extended and caressing Hawks' seared throat, smiling while the blond is sobbing in ecstasy.

Writer Example: Jirou is a budding music star, and that comes with a lot of costs. Venue rentals, advertising, and management fees. Thankfully, she has hookups from her lover Momo, an actress who made it big in the film industry. After one of her shows, Jirou meets her backstage and shows her appreciation, the only way that she can. Possible tags/themes: modern au, established relationship, public sex, oral sex, etc.

What is a Pinch Hitter?
A pinch hitter is a contributor contacted if an accepted contributor becomes unable to fulfill project expectations. Pinch hitters are typically expected to meet the same expectations however may have less time to do so.

Will accepted Contributors be given their choice of character or ship?
Popular characters and ships may be limited, as we would like to feature a variety. Contributors can specify their preferences as part of Pitches on contributor applications.

How will negative comments or hate towards creators be handled?
We ask that those who are not in support of the project do not interact with us or our contributors. Aboard the project contributors are expected to be polite to both fellow contributors and mods. Negative behavior will be handled according to Twitter and Discord TOS as well as Project Rules. Extreme or persisting behavior may result in removal from the zine.

What is your project schedule?
Our current project schedule can be found here and will be updated as needed.

What is considered a Hard-Kink or Problematic?
We classify Hard-Kinks and Problematic Content as themes that may be viewed as extreme, taboo or triggering.

What platform will the project use to communicate with contributors?
All aspiring contributors will be required to have Discord as this will be our primary form of communication.

Will BNHA samples be required when applying?
Yes, given that this is a BNHA centric project all contributors will be required to provide at least one BNHA sample. Additional guidelines will be provided closer to Contributor Apps.

Will a portfolio be required when applying?
No, providing a portfolio as part of your application is optional. The can also include completed or incomplete works, such as WIPs and sketches.

Will feedback on applications be available?
Unfortunately due to the volume of applications we have received, we will not be offering feedback.

What is the allotted word count for zine works?
Accepted writer contributors will be expected to create a work that is 2K words.
